Exporting and Printing Email Address Book Files
We are again looking at email applications. Last month we told you the name and location of the address book files for some popular email applications. This month we give instructions for exporting and printing the address book files.
Different email applications use different methods for exporting their address book files. Some programs don't have a formal export method. Follow the instructions below for each email application.
Netscape Mail Under the File menu, pull down to Export Address Book File. Specify a name and location for the file. The file can be opened and printed with Netscape.
Outlook Express Under the File menu, pull down to Export Contacts. Specify a name and location for the file. The file can be opened and printed with Simple Text.
America Online Under the File menu, pull down to Export Address Book File. Specify a name and location for the file. The file can be opened and printed with Netscape.
AOL's web site gave me instructions for exporting the address book file. it says to select Mail Center and choose Address Book. Click on the Save/Replace icon. Specify a location for the file. It will be called Address Book.PFC. The file can be opened and printed with AOL. It says that the file can be exported without signing on. If the AOL application is still installed on your hard drive, you can try the export procedure. Otherwise, I can install the program from a CD and try it from my iMac.
Eudora The address book in Eudora is a file called Eudora Nicknames. There is no export function, but the file can be opened and printed with Eudora.
Print a hard copy of your address files. You may also save a copy of the exported file in a safe place.
