Writing Software Reviews
2. Hardware Summary: Description of your processor, memory, operating system, etc. 3. Reviewer's Background: Description of your depth on knowledge with programs of this type. 4. Basic hardware requirements for the product to run. 5. Intention of the product. Product claims and features. 6. How did it install (successes and quirks if noted). Time it took to get it running. 7. Using the program. 8. Likes & dislikes. Strengths & Weaknesses. Compare this program to others you have used that do the same thing (word process, web design, paint, draw). 9. Pricing. 10. Any other conclusions on your part. For newlsetter purposes, try not to exceed two pages in length. We reserve the right to edit for space and clarity. Submit all reviews to my email address. (stevehaf@mchsi.com) I will clean up if necessary and forward to the webmaster. In addition to the posting on our web site reviews will be sent to the software vendor. Most products arrive with "Media Packets" containing boilerplate text from their PR department. Most vendors are not looking for a cut and paste of their own reviews into our newsletter. Rather, these materials are included to help you get a feel for the product as you commence the review. If you have to "borrow" a paragraph, please be selective and not overdue it. |
