Adobe GoLive 5.0

GoLive 5.0 by Adobe installed flawlessly and quickly on my beige G3. I have 96 MB of RAM installed because I like to work with several open programs at a time and my Mac using OS 8.6. Adobe GoLive 5.0 for Macintosh and Windows is now available in the U.S. and Canada for an estimated street price of US $299, and can be purchased online through the Adobe Store at www.adobe.com or from an authorized reseller. GoLive 5.0 is also now available as part of The Adobe Web Collection, which also includes Illustrator 9.0, LiveMotion 1.0, and Photoshop 5.5, available for an estimated street price of US $999 in the U.S. and Canada. Pricing and availability may vary by region.
GoLive 5.0 is tightly integrated web design program and features integration with Adobe's professional Web and graphics products, including Photoshop, Illustrator, LiveMotion, After Effects and Premiere. GoLive 5.0 requires OS 8.6 or 9.0, 48 MB of RAM (64 MB recommended), 70 MB of available hard-disk space and a CD-ROM drive. I use Netscape Navigator 4.7 as my browser of preference.
GoLive 5.0 provides complexity that I was unaware was available to novice web designers like me. I have designed my own genealogical webpage using an earlier version of Netscape Communicator (http://www.mhtc.net/~urness) and I have also used PageMill 3.0 to design our Mac User Group webpage (http://homepage.mac.com/murness). Experiencing the integration of source files from Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and LiveMotion and the ability to seamlessly edit them made me yearn to own those products as well. Using the"smart links" feature provides drag-and-drop object-sharing with other Adobe products. It is quick and easy to grasp. If source code is something that you ever want to look at, there is the toolbar button to view code and GoLive 5.0 has the feature for editing the code. The on-board interactive editor for editing multimedia,"360Code" that enables control over any Web design source code. For my part, code is swell but a beautiful picture layout is worth 1000 lines of code. With GoLive 5.0 you can have it all. You can "bring you site to life with an on-board, interactive, late-stage editor for QuickTime that supports streaming movies and SWF tracks". As you create your webpage viewing just what is linked to what is available by generating detail site reports that will outline the file hierarchy. One of the claims on the box I will investigate next. I'm going to import one of the two sites that I have designed using "another product" and see if I can display Web site statistics such as browser-specific warnings and errors, page download times, number of files available within two click of my homepage...and more. I can see that our Mac Mavericks User group webpage may benefit from a facelift using GoLive5.0. For a report on my enlarging expertise with GoLive be sure to attend the next Mac Mavericks meeting and hear it all.
